We group these two exceptional women together because, though each has been incredible asset to the community, when they get together they are a force of nature. Both have been dancing most of their lives, socially and professionally, and were regular faces around town; seen at the legendary North River Bar and Colorado Cafe.
Both Joyce and Chickie spent many years on Gotham’s Board or Directors starting around 2000; holding positions such Secretary, Vice President, Design Committee, Donations and Event Committees.
It was the Hospitality Committee, they admitted, that they found the most enjoyment; planning the theme dances such as The Prom, Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, etc. They made almost all of the gifts and giveaways such as corsages for the prom and Mother’s day and prize baskets and ribbons for the 9/11 Benefit Dance and hearts and candies for the Valentines dance and sold 50-50’s at each dance. Leading a crack team, they spent countless hours to help make these dances successful. We hosted, organized, and staffed the Hospitality Suite at NADC, and then the Gotham Member Free Day.
Congratulations and thanks to both Joyce and and Chickie for their tireless efforts and contributions to the commmunity!
